Registration Process Question

My system now sends a first confirmation e-mail when registering a new user. If he clicks on the link provided in the e-mail, his browser opens to the Wiki site with a page that includes the following "Click after you have logged in on the "Edit this page" link at the bottom to get started."

It is unclear what action is needed. I don't see a link or anything reading "Edit this page". Can you help please.

Also the watched pages feature is not completely working or I don't understand it. Can you point me to some documentation please?

Also

Unknown action mywatchespages
is not working. I get a message => Unknown action "mywatchespages". What am I doing wrong? I am using 5.4.0.

Thanks, Ray

  1. Watching pages

Watching pages means you get an email with the the change set if another user is editing the page. This works only if you have confirmed your email.

    example:
    Hello WikiUser,

Guest changed this page that you are watching:

    ======================================================================

  3. Looking forward to more info on e-mail verification.

Thanks for your clarification on watching for changes. That is how I suspected that it is to work however my systems (both of them) are not consistently doing this. Probably related to the confirmation e-mail problem. Even after the system sends an e-mail and I click on the link provided, when I look at the Account for the person responding, I still see the message as follows:
    Email not verified!
You will not receive notification of changes or comments of watched pages, messages from other users, as well you will not be able to recover a forgotten password, until your email-address was confirmed, by following the link in the email sent to you. If, within days after registration You never got a email, ask for it again by clicking here.

I assumed that this message would go away after a sucessful verification. Should it still be visible even after verification. What changes in MySQL should take place if the e-mail varification process has been sucessfully completed?

Also, on one of my Wiki installs, the verification e-mails are being sent to the Email address of the site owner:, not the new person that is registering.

Hope this helps figure out what the problem is.

    Ray

    No.

    Failed confirmation:

What changes in MySQL should take place if the e-mail varification process has been sucessfully completed?

It sets the field 'email_confirm' for the related user in the user table empty.

Also, on one of my Wiki installs, the verification e-mails are being sent to the Email address of the site owner, not the new person that is registering.

You should check your installation for inconsistent files / data base / upgrade. Its hard to say from distance where the source of your issue is.

  5. Still Email Confirmation problems.

    Still problems with Email confirmation!

    My site address is http://202.169.209.254/TestWacko/

The Email confirmation message mailed back simply says:

    ray,

    TestWacko
    http://202.169.209.254/TestWacko/

I looked into the MySQL database for the email_confirm value and put together this link based on your message => http://202.169.209.254/TestWac[..]e6892ecdb256c8908e8f

When I sent that, I received the message The requested URL /TestWacko/Settings was not found on this server.

By the way, when I did the install, I indicated that my mod_rewrite was off. Could that be causing my problems? This is a Linux Ubuntu machine using PHP Version 5.5.3-1ubuntu2.3 and Apache Version = Apache/2.4.6 (Ubuntu) .

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Ray

  6. Fixed errors with mod_rewrite off and multilanguage off

    Hi Ray,

the correct link should be TestWacko/?page=Settings&confirm=359***. After reading the related source I found the cause. We changed the emails send from HTML to plain text format and therefor & won't work anymore. Additional we merged a hard coded link in the email request box working only with mode_rewrite on. And last if multilanguage was off the $lang variable for the message set was empty.

    I committed the fixes: http://wackowiki.hg.sourceforg[..]ble/rev/32a1b38ce4d9

Just pull the repo head and overwrite the related files with the new ones:
