Kita-Senju si trova nel distretto di Adachi-ku, nella parte nord-orientale di Tokyo. È un’area urbana legata alla vita della stazione, alle strade commerciali e alle attività quotidiane dei residenti.

Gli edifici mostrano epoche diverse. Le strutture più recenti convivono con facciate più vecchie, impianti esterni, passaggi e attività distribuite sui pochi spazi disponibili. Le scritte in kanji e hiragana rendono riconoscibile il Giappone, ma non identificano immediatamente Tokyo.

Qui la città non appare come una destinazione. È un luogo in cui si lavora, si fanno acquisti, si mangia e si passa durante la giornata.

Kita-Senju è Tokyo. Quella vera.

北千住は、東京の北東部にある足立区の町。駅を中心に、商店街や住宅、日常的に利用される店が広がっている。

建物には、それぞれの時代が重なっている。新しい建物の隣に古い外壁があり、外に出た設備や狭い通路、限られた空間を使う店が続いている。漢字やひらがなから日本だとわかる。けれど、東京だとすぐにわかる目印はない。

ここは観光のための場所ではない。
人が働き、買い物をし、食事をし、日常の時間を過ごす町。

北千住は東京だ。これが、本当の東京だ。

Kita-Senju is located in Adachi Ward, in the north-eastern part of Tokyo. It is an urban area shaped by the station, local shopping streets, and the daily routines of its residents.

The buildings show different periods of development. Newer structures coexist with older façades, exposed utilities, narrow passages, and businesses occupying every available space. The kanji and hiragana make Japan recognisable, but they do not immediately identify Tokyo.

Here, the city does not appear as a destination. It is a place where people work, shop, eat, and move through the day.

Kita-Senju is Tokyo. The real one.
