1.1. Phases of Support lifecycle

Type of support Notes
Active support A release that is being actively supported. Reported bugs and security issues are fixed and regular point releases are made.
Security fixes only A release that is supported for critical security issues only. Releases are only made on an as-needed basis.
End of life A release that is no longer supported. Users of this release should upgrade as soon as possible, as they may be exposed to unpatched security vulnerabilities.

2. Support options

WackoWiki is supported by an active community, on a volunteer basis. Repairs/enhancements are made (or accepted) by project contributors on a best-effort basis, with no guarantees of either resolution or timeliness.

Comments

  1. Extended legacy support

Legacy versions can be maintainted beyond the regular lifecycle when the specific branch has a maintainer.

That means this maintainer has the requirered stack and environment to test and validate backported changes.

At a certain point, this is usually no longer possible for the core developers, as the test environment for this version and the time resources are simply not available.
